CLIMAX DEVELOPING DOLPHIN BOXING
11:18pm ET, friday march 17th
(Imagine how many ways that title could have been read! Just the way I like 'em.)
Last week, U.K. development house Climax Entertainment announced plans to release "Title Defense" for all the next-gen consoles, including Nintendo's next-generation console, code-named Dolphin. The company describes the game as follows: "As addictive as a pure arcade game, but as detailed as a serious simulation, Title Defense is being designed to provide the all-round thump-'em up experience that previous boxing games have failed to deliver."
Climax hopes to utilize the power of the Dolphin, and other consoles, by featuring high-resolution 3D graphics, a fluid control system, advanced AI, and punch-by-punch interactive commentary. There will be four individual gaming modes.
-
Exhibition Mode - Players can fight against a computer-controlled boxer or another player
-
Sparring Mode - Players can practice their face-thumping, ring-shimmying skills
-
Shadow Mode - A single-player will be able to replay a two-player game as a single-player bout
-
Tournament - The career mode, which will allow players to start in small-time domestic boxing with dreams of a Las Vegas pay-day and a championship belt.
"Title Defense" is scheduled for release in early 2001 for the Dolphin; It is also in development for the PC, Dreamcast, PlayStation 2 and X-Box.
